Resident Evil Games are Coming to the Nintendo Switch!

At first glance, you might become excited at the fact that CAPCOM is bringing its most recent titles to the Nintendo Switch but then one wonders how hardware-intensive games the likes of CAPCOM’s recent Resident Evil iterations will run on the Switch in the first place. Well, it’s all thanks to Nintendos Cloud Streaming service. The games will run on the Nintendo Switch via online streaming that’s been pretty commonplace in the modern gaming industry. The Nintendo Switch Cloud Streaming service works remarkably well and it just goes to show how far cloud gaming has come along in recent years but there’s still a small caveat to this. Players won’t be able to own physical copies of the game which is necessary to preserve titles on the go. Nintendo hasn’t had a great track record of preserving its titles with many 3DS games still not available on the Switch’s eShop. Then, there’s the problem of needing a stable and high-speed internet connection whenever you play Cloud games. Unstable Internet connections will likely result in increased input lag and unresponsiveness which would very well make these titles inaccessible for players living in remote locations. A trailer showcasing the games was aired during the Nintendo Direct Presentation on Tuesday which revealed that 4 Resident Evil games would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Players will finally get to enjoy Resident Evil 8: Village, Resident Evil Biohazard, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake on the go with the upcoming cloud releases.

Currently, a Resident Evil 8: Village cloud demo is available as of today, ahead of the game’s Switch release which is slated for October 28. This is the same date when the title’s upcoming Winters’ Expansion DLC releases on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. The DLC will eventually make its way to the Nintendo Switch later on December 2 and will feature a 3rd Person perspective along with a story DLC titled Shadows of Rose. Players will also get to enjoy a Mercenaries Update as well which adds playable characters to the mix including characters such as Heisenberg, Chris Redfield and Lady Dimitescu. As for the cloud releases of the other Resident Evil titles, we haven’t gotten a solid release date for them, but they’ve been confirmed to release sometime towards the end of 2022. Recently, CAPCOM announced that Resident Evil 4 is getting a remake which is scheduled for a Spring release. The game is set to release on March 24, 2023, for the PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Windows PC. The publisher stated that the upcoming title will preserve the essence and feel of the original game while introducing overhauled gameplay, better animations, and over-the-top visuals. CAPCOM also stated that the game will feature a reimagined storyline and vividly detailed graphics. So, are you excited about the upcoming Resident Evil titles for the Nintendo Switch?
